LEHI, Utah, November 10, 2017 — Property Management Inc (PMI) ranked by Entrepreneur magazine as a Top Franchise For Veterans 2017 in the November 2017 issue. The list included 150 franchise companies and ranked PMI at #61, making it the top choice in the property management industry. Some of the key factors used to evaluate each franchise were: the veteran incentive or discount offered to veterans, number of existing veteran-owned franchises, the veteran support provided, costs of franchising, size and growth, brand strength, and financial strength and stability. With more than 1 in 5 of its franchise owners being veterans, PMI has historically been a popular choice for veterans wanting to own their own business.
Partnering with veterans has been a positive collaboration for both PMI and their veteran franchisees, as PMI provides a proven property management business model and a support network that complements veteran’s skills. PMI President Steve Hart said “We have found that our Veteran franchisees have a great work ethic, are well disciplined and are goal oriented. They know how to implement systems and monitor success.” Robert Mallard, a retired United States Army Warrant Officer, and Radiah Mallard, a retired US Army Paratrooper and Navy veteran, are also featured in the November 2017 issue. The Mallards own a property management franchise, PMI Chattahoochee Valley, located in Columbus, Georgia and appear in the feature article, “The Service Industry: Why Veterans Are Flocking to the Franchise World” by Jon Marcus. The article takes an in-depth look at the growing trend of veterans choosing to buy a franchise and finding success as business owners.
Marcus points out that about 14% of franchised businesses in the U.S. are veteran-owned, more than twice the percentage of veterans in the American population. Interestingly, when looking at PMI’s franchise network an even higher proportion of veteran franchise owners is seen. “Almost 25% of our franchise owners are veterans of the armed services, and within PMI we can see an obvious correlation between veterans and successfully operating franchise units,” said Randall Henderson, PMI Executive Director of Training. “Our veterans almost instinctively see the value of a proven system, they commit to it and then execute each step, which leads them to successful business ownership.” To assist with initial start-up costs, PMI gives veterans a 10% reduction in their franchise fee. The U.S Small Business Association offers special programs for veterans needing funds to purchase a business.
